This photo was taken at Lake Thunderbird in Oklahoma. Matt and I spontaneously decided to venture to the lake to see the eagles that come through and nest just two weeks out of the year each January.

            I drew the word MOTHER in the sand and took a beautiful photo of the lake and Mother Earth in all her glory. Matt said shortly after, “I want to take a picture of you, Mommy,” so I handed him the camera and stepped behind the word MOTHER, crouching with my walking stick.

            When the pictures were developed this photo had an aberration of a pole of light coming directly up the center of the photograph.

            When first viewing this picture you may only see the “mistake” in the photo. But on further reflection, you may note how beautiful even a mishap can turn out to be. The photo is the same…the only thing that has shifted is your perception of it.
